We have an exciting opportunity for a Pastoral and Attendance Lead (PAL) to join us at Harrogate College. This is a fixed term role, for 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year until July 2018.
As a Pastoral and Attendance Lead you will ensure an efficient and effective service to students is provided at all times, particularly to vulnerable students in line with our ‘student first’ ethos. This is a revised role to enhance the student experience through individualised learning support and is designed to support Programmes of Study.
The role will work closely with students across a broad age range, background, and curriculum, i.e. 16-19 and 19+ to promote the raising of aspirations with a focus on achievement, attendance, retention, stretch and challenge, study skills and progression.
The post holder will have a caseload group of approximately 15-17* Groups (*Group numbers may vary depending on Group sizes) to facilitate learning through 8 group sessions and 4 Individual Learning and Progress Reviews per student using the eILP.
The post holder will also be required to act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) for the relevant school/faculty and will be expected to attend twice termly safety net meetings.
We are looking for someone who holds or is willing to work towards coaching, mentoring and counselling qualifications. You must have a minimum of a level 3 in any subject and a level 2 in both English and Maths.
The ideal Candidate will have experience of managing groups of students and coaching and engaging with students in an educational setting. Also, a good understanding and knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity, benefit entitlements, general student health and pastoral support and welfare issues is essential to the role
